At Arthik.money, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services.

Required App Permissions

SMS Permissions (READ_SMS, RECEIVE_SMS)

arthik.money requires SMS read access to provide its core functionality: automatic transaction tracking from bank and financial SMS messages.

What we read:

  • Only SMS from recognized bank and financial institution senders (typically 5-digit alphanumeric sender IDs like AD-SBIINB, VM-HDFCBK).
  • Transaction notification messages containing amounts, merchant names, and dates.

What we never read:

  • Personal messages between contacts.
  • OTP and verification codes (filtered out before processing).
  • SMS from non-financial senders.

How data is processed:

  • Transaction details (amount, merchant, date, category) are extracted and encrypted with AES-256.
  • Processed using our in-house AI — no third-party data processors.
  • Raw SMS content is not stored after transaction extraction.

Data retention:

  • Extracted transaction data is retained while your account is active.
  • You can delete all data at any time from Settings.
  • On account deletion, all data is permanently removed within 30 days.

Location Permissions

We request access to permissions (including background location) for:

  • Providing personalized financial suggestions based on your location history.
  • Detecting potentially fraudulent transactions by comparing transaction locations with your device location.
  • Enhancing expense categorization and tagging by associating merchants with locations.
  • Improving overall user experience regarding area recommendations.

Note: Location data is encrypted and only used for these specific purposes. You can disable location permissions at any time through your device settings.

Contacts Permission

We request access to your contacts for:

  • Enhancing the bill splitting feature by quickly finding and selecting friends to split expenses.
  • Simplifying manual expense entry when sharing expenses with contacts.
  • Facilitating smoother group expense management.

Important: Contact information is only used within the app to enhance your experience. We never share your contacts list with third parties.
